The Board of Education visited Mendon Center Elementary on April 9, spending time with students, staff, and one very unforgettable science room celebrity: the axolotl.

This fascinating little salamander doesn’t undergo metamorphosis as it ages, so it never outgrows its youthful look, even as a fully mature adult. No glow-up needed here… just permanent cuteness!

A Decade of Dialogue: Pittsford Students Participate in 10th Anniversary ROC2Change Summit

On March 19, 2026, 15 dedicated students from Mendon and Sutherland High Schools joined over 350 student leaders from 40 Rochester-area schools to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the ROC2Change Student Summit on Race. Pittsford participants included Mendon High School students Taylor Cates, Leiraliz Marcano, Omarria Phillips, Analiyah Rivera, Leilani Robles, Michayella Touloute and Katherine Warne; and Sutherland High School students Carlisia Clark, Rayah Duval, Rihan Gebreegziabher, Kayla Pierre, Evelyn Lin, Jade Litchfield, Aniyah Matthews, and Nariah Newton.

Spring began with a couple of community-wide events celebrating the spirit of connection. On February 27, 2026, Mendon High School students Mesude Yusra and Melike Coskun organized a Ramadan Iftar community dinner. The event served as a bridge for sharing Ramadan culture, bringing together Town Supervisor William Smith, Superintendent Shana Cutaia, and various students and staff to share a meal and foster greater understanding and appreciation of different cultural traditions.

Pittsford's Robotics Team gathered at the competition for a picture in their pink team shirts

Congratulations to the Pittsford Robotics Team for being part of the winning alliance at the FIRST Robotics Finger Lakes Regional competition on March 22, 2026. The team captured the Regional Championship in an exciting best-of-three finals series that was won in the final match by just one point.

This victory represents one of the most significant competitive accomplishments in the program’s history and reflects the dedication of Pittsford students and mentors throughout the season...

Congratulations to the Mendon Center Elementary School chorus and orchestra students who participated in the Monroe County School Music Association (MCSMA) All-County Music Festival on March 20-21, 2026. Student-musicians from across the county gathered for an intensive weekend of rehearsals, culminating in a public concert. Participation is based on performance scores from MCSMA Solo Festivals held earlier in the year.
